Vermont AMBUCS 2024 Tryke Fitting and Give Away Day- May 4, 2024
What a Fun Day! On May 4th VT AMBUCS had a very successful Tryke Fitting Day at the Waitsfield Elementary School in Waitsfield, Vermont. 12 riders were fitted for new or next-size-up AmTrykes; 7 riders were able to take Trykes home since we had gently used AmTrykes to distribute. 5 riders will be receiving their newly ordered AmTrykes over the next month or two. Members of our Vermont AMBUCS Board and other volunteers made up 3 Fitting Teams, and we were able to work with 3 riders per hour between 9am and 1pm. A BIG THANK YOU goes out to all of our VT AMBUCS Volunteers, and especially to the Vermont Scouts and their Leaders from BSA Troop 709 and BSA Troop 170.
2023 - Vermont AMBUCS Year in Review
Due to the massive flooding across Vermont in July 2023, our Vermont Chapter AmTryke Fitting and Give Away Day was cancelled. The middle school where we planned to hold the event was cut off from the interstate due to high water. The old Vermont saying "You can't get there from here" was really appropriate! Since July 2023 Vermont AMBUCS Board members who are PTs, OTs and Bike Mechanics have traveled to riders' homes to individually custom-fit and deliver AmTrykes across Vermont. We also delivered one to a rider in New Hampshire since that state does not yet have an AMBUCS Chapter. One of our Board Members traveled over 500 miles in one day to deliver 3 Trykes! Our demonstration AmTryke Trailer inventory is now depleted. The number of riders who have received new AmTrykes from VT AMBUCS in 2023 total 36 in spite of the high water! We already have 9 riders pending for spring of 2024 when we will be getting a new shipment of AmTrykes from the factory.
We are planning for a Tryke Fitting Day in early May. 2024- We will keep you posted!

Vermont AMBUCS is celebrating our 17th year!
Vermont AMBUCS is a 501c3 non-profit organization founded in 2007 as a chapter of AMBUCS.org The mission of AMBUCS is to create mobility and independence. This is achieved through the therapeutic bicycle program, which matches individuals with AmTrykes (adapted bikes).
The AmTryke Therapeutic Tricycle Program is about abilities, not disabilities. Our goal is to provide access to all the classic benefits of riding a bike: mobility, strength, exercise, coordination, interaction with family and friends, and just pure fun! |
