The Application Process for the Bike Fitting Event
Parents
- Parents or riders, please fill out the Application Forms, including the Request, Waiver, and Assessment Form (under application forms below).
- Please find a photo of the rider that you can send us for our internal documentation.
- Please email the fully completed form and photo to info@vtambucs.org. Please put the Rider's name in the Subject Line.
Therapists
- If you're working with a therapist, they can fill out an assessment form in advance of the bike fitting event. The assessment form will provide us with measurements of your rider, and allow us to get you right on a bike.
- Once completed, email the fully complete assessment form to info@vtambucs.org. Please put the Rider's name in the Subject Line.
- If you do not have a therapist, this step will be completed at the bike event.

Bike Trial and Bike Ordering
- At the bike fitting event, a representative from VT AMBUCS will work with you and a volunteer therapist or your local therapist to complete the bike selection form below. Based on the rider's needs you will select and try an appropriately sized tryke that is operated by feet, by hands, or by hands and feet.
- We will have these bikes available for you to try at the bike fitting event. We will use your trial to fill out the bike order form. The three options are available at the buttons below. You can select accessories here as well.
Get Your Tryke
- Once the correct tryke has been selected, we will identify an available tryke, or order the tryke and start fundraising for all riders. Everyone that wishes to get a bike is asked to help us spread the word about our program to help us fundraise for all riders.
- If there is a "pay it forward" tryke available, you may be able to go home with a tryke the day of the bike fitting event. A "pay it forward" tryke is a tryke that was outgrown by another rider. Each "pay it forward" bike is assessed by our bike mechanics, and fitted to the rider with the necessary accessories.
- If a bike is not available at the event, we will work to get one. Once the tryke arrives, a volunteer will build and deliver your tryke, and make sure it fits.
- You then enjoy the fun and freedom of riding a bike!
- If you outgrow your tryke, we require that the tryke be returned to our program so it can be re outfitted and passed onto the next rider! If you need the next size up, the process starts again at number 1! Always remember to "pay it forward!" We have many riders that have done this 3 or 4 times as they outgrown their bike, so that they keep enjoying the joy of riding with friends and family.
- We ask all riders families to donate what they can towards our program. An average bike costs upwards of $1,500, and can be more if a lot of accessories are needed. We work hard to fundraise for our program. You may choose to have a "New rider" page all your own to help raise awareness about our program and help us raise funds to pay it forward for all of our riders, or you can help us by sharing our general fundraising link. Please share our fundraising campaigns with your friends, family, work, and social groups. If your work has a matching donation program, please let us know. Visit the Donate Page to see the current fundraisers.
